As a wedding photographer I realise that your wedding is easily one of the most important moments in your life. You’ve probably played it out a million times in your mind: the resplendent, shimmering wedding dress, the air heavy with the musky perfume of flowers, the lingering smell of delicious food, and of course, great creative wedding photography to capture it all.
Modern day weddings demand photography that goes beyond the traditional, formal poses that reek of stiff cordiality, rather than carefree, eternal love. Gone are the days when wedding photography meant smiling uncomfortably and waiting for the camera to click. Today, wedding photography is all about capturing the unique personality and intimate moments of a wedding.
As a reportage wedding photographer that’s very much what I do! My style is very informal, not like an old fashioned traditional wedding photographer. I tell the story of your day using images that capture the unique atmosphere and the character of the people involved.
My low-key approach means I photograph what YOU want, I don’t turn your wedding into an epic photo shoot, your family and guests are there to see you not the wedding photographer! I’ll quickly put you at ease allowing free and spontaneous images, I believe that photography should be fun for everyone involved, get this right and great images will follow. There are some times though where my experience as a wedding photographer comes into play though and I may need to step in a guide you. Especially when time is tight or the weather is looking decidedly dodgy, you only get one chance at this so you have to get photos when you can!
Informal wedding photographer
If you are not too keen on having your photograph taken don’t worry – come into the studio and we’ll do a fun session of you together free of charge. One key skill of a wedding photographer is being able to put people at ease and feel relaxed in front of the camera.
Taking the photos on the day is just the start, most of my packages include a beautiful storybook wedding album or classic wedding album depending on your preferences.
Too many couples make the mistake of taking the wedding photographer for granted, and hire one at the very last minute. Worse, some couples try to save some money by asking a friend or relative with an amateur interest in photography to fill in the spot. The end result is often a set of substandard wedding photography that cannot do justice to the beauty of their wedding day.
You’ll find a good wedding photographer gets booked up months and years in advance so don’t leave it too late and act now!
